The redevelopment of Selhurst Park could generate up to £15millon a year to the Croydon economy.
A study by an economic development company says the upgrade of the stadium’s Main Stand would generate up to £15million a year for the area and create hundreds of new jobs. The report (which was commissioned by CPFC) presented to Croydon Council by Regeneris Consulting said the total number of jobs at the club would rise by 70 per cent, from 983 to 1,667.
The report by Regeneris said that increasing the stadium capacity by around 30 per cent and building a new restaurant and museum will make it a “more attractive location to visit.” “The construction of an iconic Main Stand at Selhurst Park will not only increase the stadium’s capacity to accommodate over 34,000 fans, but will also increase CPFC’s appeal across south London.”
The Council’s planning committee will make its decision on the Main Stand application on April 19.
