Recycling centre undergoes £106k upgrade

Fishers Farm recycling centre has closed for a fortnight this morning to allow for a £106,000 upgrade to its layout and drainage.

The site in North Downs Road, New Addington, will be closed until Monday, December 11 because of a £52,000 council investment in a new drainage system and kerbs, plus a £54,000 upgrade to the site’s layout by council contractor Veolia.

During the temporary planned closure, Croydon residents will be able to use other council recycling centres at Purley Oaks and Factory Lane. Posters directing residents to the nearest alternative recycling centres will be in place at Fishers Farm during the works.

Veolia, which operates the site on behalf of Croydon Council and the South London Waste Partnership, will increase the amount of usable space and improve the site’s traffic system to shorten queue times for residents.
