The very best of Croydon will continue to be showcased throughout 2017 thanks to The View.
A joint initiative between Develop Croydon and the Croydon Partnership, the venue provides a much-needed marketing and events space with panoramic views of the town.
Given an appropriate name due to its panoramic views of the town, The View has already won praise as the ideal place to highlight the regeneration taking place and the opportunities for growth.
It is being delivered on behalf of Develop Croydon and the Croydon Partnership by White Label Creative as a ‘meanwhile use’ for vacant space in the Whitgift Tower, part of the existing Whitgift Shopping Centre complex, and will be in place throughout 2017.
The View includes a permanent exhibition of the Croydon Partnership’s proposals to create a word-class £1.4billion retail and leisure destination as well as marketing material promoting Croydon as a whole.
Carolyn Kenney, development director, Hammerson and Croydon Partnership said: “This facility demonstrates how regeneration schemes across Croydon are creating new opportunities for businesses in all sectors.
“It’s a great resource to promote the positive transformation of Croydon’s town centre and image.”
Steve Yewman, development director of Westfield, added: “Develop Croydon has grown exponentially as development and investment in the borough has increased, creating opportunities for the future.
“The new marketing suite is a fantastic location from which to showcase Croydon.”
The facility is primarily being used by members of the Develop Croydon Forum. Chairman Richard Plant, said: “This is the first time we have had a space to use in this way and it provides the perfect place to get a view of the dramatic changes taking place in Croydon.
“We hope Forum members will use it to market Croydon, which is fundamentally what Develop Croydon is here to do.”
The View has already been used for a Develop Croydon partner meeting, the Croydon BID reballot launch, a Croydon Heritage Festival event, meetings hosted by commercial property agents Stiles Harold Williams and the launch of the council’s First Step Croydon jobs brokerage service.
Katharine Glass, director of White Label Creative, said: “Croydon is going through a period of unprecedented regeneration and this provides somewhere for key stakeholders to entertain major clients, showcase their schemes in a wider context or simply to host meetings and events.
“This is a ‘meanwhile use’ of the Whitgift Tower and we hope The View’s success will lead to us working with other potential event spaces and carry on the initiative over the next three to five years as Croydon’s development programme gathers pace.”
