Croydon house prices up by more than 10 per cent

Croydon ranked seventh of the 33 London boroughs in terms of house price rises during 2016 – with growth throughout the year at more than 10 per cent.

Data by online estate agency Emoov suggests growth throughout the capital weakened last year but the momentum in Croydon was maintained with rises of 10.61 per cent.

That means the average house price is up from £330,486 in December 2015 to £365,564.

The sharpest increase was enjoyed in Barking & Dagenham, one of the few parts of London with average prices still below £300,000.

Hammersmith and Fulham was the only borough in London where prices fell, by 2.1 per cent to £772,000.
