Brick by Brick receives planning permission for new homes in Coulsdon

Brick by Brick have received planning permission to build 157 new homes, 50 per cent of which will be affordable, in Coulsdon.

The development company set up by Croydon Council got the go ahead this week to build 157 homes, in five buildings, at the former Lion Green Road car park.

Seventy-nine of these flats will be affordable, including 33 that will transfer to Croydon Affordable Homes, the council’s charitable company set up to rent out houses and flats at 65% of the usual cost to families who had previously been in temporary accommodation.

The Coulsdon scheme’s 78 private flats will finance its affordable homes.

Councillor Alison Butler, deputy leader and cabinet member for homes, regeneration and planning, said: “This is a fantastic step forward towards delivering both regeneration for Coulsdon and more affordable homes for borough residents, including families on benefits or low incomes.

“The council has already got 114 families into cheaper rented properties under its Croydon Affordable Homes scheme, and this decision will help even more households.”
